Araku Valley Train Journey - short documentary VLOG

Araku is the on the Kothavalasa-Kirandul railway line (also called the KK-line). The KK-line was opened in 1966 primarily to transport iron ore from the mines in Chathisgarh to the port in Vishakapatnam. It is predominantly a freight line and has only a single passenger train service. In the ~115 km section between Kothavalasa and Shimiliguda, the line climbs 950 m with a ruling gradient of 1 in 60. This part of the section is therefore a true mountain railway. The line has 58 tunnels, 84 major bridges and 1187 minor bridges and offers breath-taking sceneries to passengers. Built after independence and in a short time of ~5 years, the line is an engineering masterpiece.
