A few clips from a morning i spent at Carstairs on the 9th April 1980 over 28 years ago. The first clip shows 47558 Mayflower arriving at Carstairs with a portion from Edinburgh. it will link up with another portion from Glasgow and be combined before heading south. I am amazed by the lean on the track on the final approach. I was certain the train was going to topple over. 20198 and 20212 rush past light engine en route to Motherwell. 86217 is in charge of a train which includes motor rail carriages which i believe were bound for Edinburgh. There is a fine assortment of coaches and liveries on this service. Next 26028 departs Carstairs yard with a short train to Thornton Junction. finally we see 47564 departing the station in scot rail livery.
