After the Lucknow Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee demanded immediate withdrawal of GST on Langars. Now Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to waive-off GST on ingredients used to make Langars in Gurdwaras as well. The Bathinda MP in her letter to the Prime Minister stated that the Golden temple, Amritsar, runs the world’s largest mega kitchen, offering free meals throughout the year and ingredients like Desi Ghee; Milk powder etc attracted 18% GST. She has requested that Gurdwara's like Golden temple not be burdened with GST.
