ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will start today hearing objections against new delimitation of constituencies on the basis of provisional results of the 2017 population census.

The electoral body so far has received 1286 objections against delimitation of the electoral constituencies throughout the country, a Radio Pakistan report said.

The process of accepting objections on the delimitation proposals from citizens throughout the country will continue till 24th of this month. The commission would notify the delimitation on May 03 after disposing of the cases within a period of month.

The ECP had earlier constituted five teams to receive such complaints and set April 03 the last date for filing of complaints. A facilitation center at the ECP Secretariat had also been set up for receiving objections.

On March 05, the electoral body published an initial report on delimitation of the electoral constituencies and invited objections from the general public.

In the wake of the delimitation proposals, the National Assembly formed a committee after several political parties raised objections.
