U.S. President Donald Trump has come to the defense of America's largest broadcaster, Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which is facing backlash for promoting the president's anti-media rhetoric.
Sinclair drew national attention over the weekend after a video clip showed a compilation of news anchors from its roughly 200 local TV stations reading an identical speech, criticizing some outlets of bias and fake news.
As the clip went viral, Trump took to Twitter on Monday to defend Sinclair and to take jabs at CNN and NBC News.
He tweeted that it was so funny to watch "Fake News Networks" criticize Sinclair for being biased, adding Sinclair is "far superior to CNN and even more Fake NBC, which is a total joke."
Sinclair Vice President Scott Livingston is reported to have sent an internal memo Monday defending what he called "well-researched journalistic initiative focused on fair and objective reporting."
Also in the memo, obtained by CNNMoney, Livingston slammed what he called "misleading, often defamatory stories" about the company.
