130-year-old French mechanical tide gauge to keep ticking away

Modern sea level measurements are usually taken by computer, but in Marseille one analog tide gauge is operational after 130 years. While the station has been equipped with a modern version, the historic gauge is set to be repaired and cleaned to continue to build on the data it has been gathering for well over a century.
