ISLAMABAD: The accountability court hearing references against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members resumed hearing the Avenfield properties case on Friday (today).

Former premier Nawaz Sharif, daughter Mariam Nawaz and his son in law Capt. Safdar appeared in the court for hearing as defence lawyer Khawaja Haris cross examining the prosecution witness Wajid Zia.
Wajid Zia, head of the Panama case joint investigation team (JIT), which probed the Sharif family assets last year, being cross-examined by Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris after he completed recording his statement over several weeks.

In response to Haris’ query, Zia said the JIT had decided to contact Jerry Freeman through a solicitor based in the UK. He said the JIT had sent the questionnaire to Freeman with mutual consensus. Jerry Freemen confirmed that Hassan Nawaz had signed two trust deeds on January 2, 2006. Freeman has been a witness of signing on the trust deed.

The prosecurity witness said that the copies of the trust deed are present at the office of Jerry Freeman.
