Malala Yousafzai Returns to Pakistan for First Time Since Shooting

Nobel peace laureate Malala Yousafzai arrived home in Pakistan on March 29 for the first time since being shot by a Taliban gunman in 2012.The 20-year-old met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and gave a speech to the media in which she spoke about the importance of education for children. Reports stated that she will stay in Pakistan until April 2.Yousafzai was 15 years old when she was shot in the head by Taliban militants for her role in advocating for education for girls. She was airlifted to Britain after the shooting to treat her injuries and had not returned to Pakistan since.In 2014, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her work in defending the rights of women and girls.
