South Korea has confirmed that Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha will also meet with her Japanese counterpart, Taro Kono, during their mutual visits to Washington.
The foreign ministry says they will meet on Saturday to discuss the North Korea situation and related matters.
Kang is expected to brief Kono on the progress of the inter-Korean talks, as well as the U.S.-North Korea talks.
It will be their first meeting since January.
They had originally intended to meet with the ousted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, but despite his dismissal both decided to travel to Washington anyway.
