00:02Hey guys, this is Drew with Northridge Community Church.
00:04I was wanting to show you guys a video on how to connect the X32 with your iPad app
00:11and also the PC application from Behringer.
00:16So the first thing that we're going to be doing is we need a Behringer X32.
00:20So we have our board, and you will want to go ahead and connect in a router into the board,
00:26into the back of the network connection.
00:27And with the router, you're going to want to know a couple things.
00:31A, it needs to be a Wi-Fi router.
00:33Obviously, if you're wanting to be using the iPad app to connect into this, it needs to be a wireless
00:39router.
00:40Second of all, you need to know the subnet mask address and the IP address of the router.
00:49And so once you know those things, we can go ahead and go onto the X32 and start configuring all
00:54this stuff.
00:55So we're going to go ahead and zoom in on the LCD screen.
01:00And now that we're here, there we go.
01:06Very good.
01:06All right.
01:07So we are going to go ahead and hit the Setup button.
01:09So for Home, we press Setup.
01:11And then we're going to go ahead and page over to where it says Network.
01:14So we're going to go over to Network.
01:16There we go.
01:16And so what we need to do, I'm just going to set this to where it was originally.
01:23So our IP address, working from the top, is the IP address of this board.
01:28So we have to specify our own IP address for this board.
01:32The subnet mask is configured from your router.
01:35And your gateway is also configured from the router.
01:40But it's the IP address of your router.
01:42So my router here at Northridge is 192.168.201.1.
01:49And so what we're going to do is we're going to basically just match those numbers.
01:53So we're going to do 192.168.201.
01:56So then we rotate this knob until it says 201.
02:02And then .1.
02:04And then we press Assign.
02:06And then we can go ahead and scroll up to IP address by using this knob right here.
02:12And this is going to be the IP address of the board.
02:15Now, the IP address needs to be correct.
02:19So this 201 needs to copy up to up here.
02:23So it's 192.168.201.
02:27So we'll go ahead and take this to 201.2.
02:34So this is going to be the second thing on my network.
02:36And since I know that nothing else is connecting to this network other than a computer and an iPad,
02:43I know that 2 is empty.
02:46So once we have those set, we go ahead and press Assign.
02:49And so now that those things are assigned, we go ahead and look at the iPad.
02:56So in the iPad, we'll want to have our settings configured so we see the correct network.
03:07So I hope you guys know how to set your Wi-Fi.
03:11But here we have our Wi-Fi.
03:13And we go ahead and go to our normal Wi-Fi that we have the board set up to here.
03:20And then we are going to go to the Behringer app.
03:25And then up here in the upper left-hand corner, we're going to go ahead and press that, this little
03:31I.
03:32And then it brings up this right here.
03:34And I'm going to go ahead and set this down so you guys can view this a little bit better.
03:39Zoom in on this here.
03:43All right, this is a little impromptu here.
03:45All right, so we have the IP address, the subnet mask.
03:51And we can see there's two things.
03:54There's this iPad and then the X32 console.
03:57So we are going to click in here and we're going to enter in the IP address of the console.
04:02So I know it's 192.168.201.2.
04:08And once we press return, we can hide the keyboard and then press connect.
04:13And once it's connected, that will disappear.
04:15And so now we can view all of the things on the board on the iPad app.
04:21And so over here in the setup tab, there's a couple different things that we can do.
04:27We can change the tab bar position.
04:29So this will go up or down.
04:33And then our fader labels, we can change that if we want to.
04:37We can turn them on or off.
04:38The mini meters, this is really cool.
04:40This is basically these meters up here.
04:43You can see right here, channel 16, I'm talking.
04:46So you can see my voice there.
04:47If I turn this off, it'll basically not have that.
04:50If you find that your network connection or iPad is running slow,
04:55one way to make that a little bit faster is to turn off the mini meters.
05:01But it's nice to know what is going on when you're away from the actual console.
05:06Mini faders, this is basically up here.
05:11It'll show you little pictures of where the current faders are.
05:15So if I was to go over to channel 6 on my board and turn it up,
05:19you'll see that it's turning up right there.
05:22Very good.
05:24And then we can the rotary gesture.
05:28This is really important for adjusting things like EQ.
05:33So let's go ahead and go into the detail.
05:35So here's my electric guitar.
05:38And I'm going to page over to my EQ.
05:41And I can go select my different bands down here.
05:44Basically, the gesture is the difference between either taking this and going up or down
05:49or clicking on it and going right or left.
05:52Like you're turning a knob.
05:54Or you can go up and down like it's a fader.
05:56I have mine configured as a fader because I feel it has a lot more minute adjustments that you can
06:02make.
06:02So to take your high shelf, you press 4, and you can take this up or down.
06:12And I'll make another video kind of showing the main things of the XI Control app here.
06:18So let's go ahead and go over to my computer and get this thing working.
06:24So let me set my iPad to the side here.
06:27And we are going to go ahead and zoom out and look at my computer.
06:32All right.
06:33So here we go.
06:35So once you open up the application on your PC, and I'll go ahead and close this out so you
06:41can see it.
06:41So we have XI Control all the way up here in the upper left-hand corner, which you can't really
06:46see.
06:47We have our application that pops open here.
06:50And so here it is.
06:52And the first thing that it shows up to is the Network tab.
06:55And we have the IP address.
06:57This is very basic.
06:59We need to have this computer hooked up to the same router as the X32.
07:02It's a little obvious.
07:04But the IP address is going to also be the IP address of the mixer.
07:09So we have 192.168.201.2.
07:13It's going to be a number that you'll kind of memorize and know after you connect a few things.
07:19And so then we have down here, we have sync direction.
07:23And this is a little bit important because you can kind of screw up your console if you do it
07:27wrong.
07:28There is a console to PC and a PC to console.
07:32This is basically saying that the sync of the console is going to sync into the PC.
07:36That's the first selection.
07:40Or the second selection is your PC is going to sync into your console.
07:43So, obviously, if you make a scene from your PC that you are wanting to put onto your X32,
07:52you could do a PC to console sync.
07:55But in my case, I like being able to watch the meters up on this screen above the X32
08:01and not take away the stuff on my LCD of the X32.
08:07So I do console to PC and then we press connect and then it will pop this thing up
08:14and you're going to click console to PC and then it will take a little bit of time.
08:21And if we zoom out or pan down here, you'll see that it will start kind of copying
08:26the different settings for my board.
08:29And fortunately, it takes a little bit of time the first time it connects.
08:33And this is every time it connects.
08:36So it's not like a one day you connect it and the next day if you've turned off the board
08:41and are connecting your PC again, it will take this long to transfer all these parameters again.
08:49So we'll watch this go on here.
08:55Usually, I just turn on my computer, turn on this after turning on my console.
09:00And then as I'm walking down to turn on my PA system, this is transferring.
09:05Now, once it's transferred, then whenever you're making an adjustment on your X32,
09:09it makes the same adjustment in your PC app.
09:12So you don't have to worry about updates as far as that goes.
09:18It happens very quick.
09:19And so then you have full use of the X control on the PC.
09:24And they now have it on Mac too.
09:27But we can click on meters.
09:29You can see the meters going here.
09:31If I was to start saying something really loud, like pop, you can see my gain reduction here.
09:36So the same things that you can adjust on the X32, you can adjust in the PC app.
09:42So if I was to go take my base and turn it up or down, I'll go ahead and zoom
09:48this out so you can see it.
09:52But there we go.
09:54All right.
09:54So I'm going to be adjusting this fader inside the app and turn it down.
09:58Or if I was wanting to turn it up from here, you can watch it right here on the screen.
10:03And there you go.
10:05So that is how you connect your iPad and X control applications into the board.
10:14And I find that these are really helpful to have while mixing.
10:19Especially the iPad, it's really nice to be able to walk around and mix throughout your audience.
10:25Here at Northridge, we have kind of a weird setup.
10:30Our booth is way above the sanctuary.
10:33And also, we are against a wall.
10:38So we have a really bad area that we're mixing from up here.
10:44So the iPad is really nice because then we're able to walk downstairs, walk around.
10:49But then we also have our near fields that we can use to kind of get a little general reference.
10:55Anyway, if you have any questions, feel free to post them below.
10:58Sorry that this video is a little longer than expected.
11:01Anyway, thanks guys.
