00:02Hey what's going on guys it's ETA Prime back here again today I'm going to be putting
00:06together this little Raspberry Pi 3 with a mini NES case and RetroPie writing on it.
00:11I figured I'd make a video on it.
00:13This is for one of my friends so I can give you a little walkthrough if you've never put
00:16together a Raspberry Pi.
00:19So here's the Raspberry Pi 3, most important part of the build.
00:23You need an SD card.
00:25Now this is actually a 128GB card but I have an Open32 that I'm giving to my buddy.
00:31Power supply.
00:32This is 5 volts, 2.5 amps, HDMI cord.
00:39I got two USB generic SNES controllers and this cool little Raspberry Pi 3 case.
00:47It'll fit the Raspberry Pi 2 or 3.
00:50These are $20 on Amazon and I'm going to leave links for everything in the description.
00:56Pretty nice little case I mean it's just a basic kind of looks like a NES you know.
01:01He wanted something really retro so I figured I'd throw this together for him.
01:06And finally I actually ordered some heat sinks.
01:09I ordered about 20 of them a while ago and here they are.
01:12They're just tiny little aluminum heat sinks with some 3M adhesive on the bottom.
01:17So I'm not going to be going over installing RetroPie on your SD card in this video.
01:21I have tons of videos on that.
01:23I'll leave links in the description and at the end of the video you can click on the annotation
01:27even if you're on mobile.
01:29Here's the generic SNES USB controllers.
01:33Now if you choose to use one of these that's totally fine.
01:36It doesn't have enough buttons for let's say N64 and Playstation.
01:40But you can always opt for a PS3 controller that's Bluetooth.
01:45You have tons of options here.
01:46We have the wired Xbox 360 controller one of my favorites to use.
01:52You can also use a wired Xbox One controller.
01:57Or top of the line my favorite is the 8-Bito FC30 Pro.
02:03Now you can get the NES 30 Pro also but I love the FC style.
02:07This is Bluetooth so you won't have any wires coming out of the Raspberry Pi.
02:12So let's get right into assembly.
02:14Very easy to do.
02:15Here's my Raspberry Pi 3.
02:17I have a heat sink that I'm going to place on the CPU just to keep it cool.
02:20You can also add a fan if you'd like to but for NES, SNES you should be good with a
02:26little
02:26heat sink.
02:28Just place it right on the CPU.
02:31Make sure it's snug and you're good to go.
02:36I'm going to be moving over to the case now.
02:38These do look a little bit cheap.
02:40They're 20 bucks but they are pretty cool.
02:42I mean they're very thin.
02:44Comes with four screws that insert from the bottom.
02:46And the Pi fits really snug.
02:49So you can also place a heat sink here if you have an extra one but for this build I'm
02:53not even going to worry about it.
02:55Just place your Pi in.
02:57We're going to throw the top on.
02:59Turn it over and put our four screws in.
03:03Very easy to do.
03:05All of your ports are accessible with this case.
03:07Your HDMI, the audio out, your micro USB for power and the SD card on the back.
03:14So just go ahead and snug your screws down with a small screwdriver and you're good to go.
03:18You don't need to over tighten these it's not going to go anywhere.
03:22So I'm done.
03:23On the front you can lift the cartridge slot so you have access to your USBs and your ethernet
03:28but this is the Raspberry Pi 3 so it has wifi and bluetooth built in.
03:32On the back here you have the SD card slot and holes for the lights on the Raspberry Pi.
03:37On the side we have our 3.5mm audio jack, HDMI and our 5V in.
03:43You're done.
03:44Now all you need to do is install Retro Pi and an SD card and boot this baby up.
03:50Just kind of wanted to show you what it looks like with the controller plugged in, your HDMI
03:54and power.
03:55Now I don't like the wired controllers because I have a Raspberry Pi 3 but if you're trying
04:00to give this to a buddy and you don't want to spend a lot of money you can definitely
04:04use these.
04:05My favorite like I said at the beginning was the 8Bito Bluetooth controller and I'll show
04:11you what it looks like with the lid closed and no wires coming out of the front.
04:16Pretty cool if you're going Bluetooth.
04:18Looks very slick.
04:19It would look really nice sitting next to your TV on your entertainment center.
04:23I already have Retro Pi installed on a 32GB SD card.
04:27I've set it up for him on my other Pi.
04:29I'm going to show you that now.
04:30A lot of simple stuff but if you're just starting out it's the perfect setup.
04:34So I'm using the mini NES theme I did a video on a few weeks ago.
04:38I'll leave a link in the description.
04:40Some of the systems aren't supported like Virtual Boy at the end here.
04:44I'll probably end up just removing the Virtual Boy folder so it doesn't show up on the
04:47front menu here.
04:48But you can always change the theme.
04:50Something that does support all of these systems.
04:53I got all the box art scraped for him.
04:55This is going to be a great build for him.
04:58Way too many games for me.
05:00I mean I can get away with using a 16GB SD card and have all the games I'd ever want
05:05to play.
05:05I'm going to swap out to the pixel theme real quick.
05:09I have a few other themes installed so he can pick and choose what he likes the best.
05:13I love this pixel theme but right now I'm loving that mini NES theme.
05:18It just looks so good.
05:20I really appreciate you guys watching.
05:22If you could hit that like button and subscribe.
05:24If you want to set one of these up all the links to Amazon are in the description.
05:29Links to videos on how to set up RetroPie on an SD card.
05:33How to add themes.
05:35How to add ROMs.
05:36I've done it all.
05:37Links are down below and on screen now.
05:40Like always, thanks for watchin'.
