Chairman of the supervisory board of the DOC Research Institute Vladimir Yakunin tackles some of the major questions facing society today and in the future. An increasingly important matter is the substance of development. It is good to celebrate a given percentage of GDP growth, but is it enough to encapsulate what is truly happening? Ultimately, it is not. We must talk about the development of society and the development of humanity rather than reducing it to quick figures. This is why substance is important and why the DOC is focused on it.
The next edition Rhodes Forum, that will take place later in 2018, where Vladimir Yakunin and other distinguished guests will speak, shall focus on just these matters. Its focus will be on enhancing dialogue on peace, security and development. In part, the topics will range from the future development of Africa to the balance of power in an increasingly multilateral and also multiconceptual world. Notable thought leaders from many different fields will come together to talk about various concepts and problems, in order to identify solutions that can make a lasting difference in our world, and in doing so will continue the proud Rhodes Forum tradition of shining light on important issues.
