Saeed Jaffrey was one of the few Indian actors whose fame extended beyond the country of his birth. Jaffrey made his Hindi film debut as one of the obsessive chess players in Satyajit Ray’s classic Shatranj Ke Khiladi (1977). He then starred in acclaimed films like Chashme Baddoor, Masoom, Mandi and Tamas.
