WhatsApp is testing a 'dismiss' feature that lets you demote annoying group chat admins.

Administrators currently have the ability to remove members from a WhatsApp group by deleting them from the chat.

The new 'dismiss' feature could let group admins take less drastic action by simply demoting other group admins to take control of the conversation.
With the new feature, existing administrators can choose to demote another admin at any time. After pressing the 'group info' button a pop-up menu (pictured) will then appear with the option to 'dismiss as admin'
The feature is currently in beta-stage testing on Android and is still under development for iOS, reports suggest.

It is unknown when, or if, the feature will make it to the mainstream version of the app and out of testing stages.

According to WABetaInfo, a fan site that tests new WhatsApp features early: 'At present, WhatsApp is developing this feature for iOS and it will be available soon for all users.

'It is already enabled by default in the newest WhatsApp Google Play beta for Android 2.18.12.'

The Facebook-owned messaging app has recently made several changes to grant more power to group chat admins, including the testing of 'restricted groups' which allowed admins to ban other members.
DISMISS AS ADMIN
The admin feature in a WhatsApp group allows users to add or remove people from the chat.

A number of different group members can be named as admin.

Now, the app is trialling a new 'dismiss as admin' feature which will allow group administrators to to demote one another.

The member will then become a regular member of the group chat, with their extra privileges removed.

Currently, it is in beta stage testing on Android and is under development on iOS.

As WhatsApp gives more responsibility to admins in these groups, it seems the firm is now allowing users to make sure the function is not abused.

The 'dismiss as admin' option could work alongside the restricted groups function in future.

Users that are admins of a private chat will be able to access the feature by tapping the 'group info' button.
