Tesla 'on autopilot' rear ends fire truck while driving at 65 mph

CULVER CITY, CALIFORNIA — The U.S. government is looking into an accident involving a Tesla Model S on auto and the rear end of a fire truck.
Culver City firefighters were attending the scene of an accident on Monday when a Tesla Model S, reportedly driving on autopilot, struck the rear of a parked fire truck.
Fire officials said the car was traveling at 65 miles per hour before it crashed into the truck on Interstate 405. No one was hurt in the accident, but it has prompted an investigation by the U.S. National Transportation Board.
Tesla told KTLA that autopilot function is intended for use by fully attentive drivers. The function isn't fully autonomous.
According to the San Jose Mercury News, firefighters advised the drive to see medical staff after the crash but he refused treatment and showed no major injuries.
