Core Plus helps students across Washington learn to build airplanes, boats, buildings – and their futures. This site connects you with Core Plus programs, teachers, employers, opportunities and resources.

Personal responsibility, material science, applied math and hands-on technical skills are cornerstones for success in a wide range of highly rewarding industrial careers. Core Plus teachers help their students learn these skills through acquisition of prioritized Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) validated by industrial businesses engaged in advanced manufacturing, maritime trades, construction and agricultural support services.

“Core” skills are those required by all sectors. “Plus” content refers to skills specific to a single sector. Instruction occurs through classes in topics that include metal fabricating, machining, composites, construction and principles of manufacturing or engineering.

Professional development opportunities are available on a continuing basis to teachers through the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). Start-up grants are available from the State of Washington. Teachers who want more information should call Denny Wallace at OSPI, (360)-725-6241, or email him at dennis.wallace@k12.wa.us.
