MOUNT RUSHMORE SAFARI - is a rock group from Copenhagen, Denmark. The band was formed in the beginning of 2011, and started out as a musical playground between frontman Andreas Sorgenfrei and Kasper Nissen (of The Rumour Said Fire).
The two go back a long way, and had been playing in other bands together years earlier at the time. Now that they were back together, their mission was to create a new sound in the studio unlike any of their previous adventures.
The material Andreas had written led towards atmospheric 80s inspired pop music, while Kasper as the leading producer gave it a more up to date indie rock styled expression. The meddle was inevitably interesting. Mount Rushmore Safari was a reality.
Within the short period of time that the band has existed, Mount Rushmore Safari has been playing a long series of concerts i Denmark and Germany, supporting well established Danish acts such as "Kellermensch", "Coco Moon", "Sterling", as well as international - "And Also the Trees (UK)", "Gardens & Villa" (US) and "Cursive" (US).
In 2013 their debut album "Elba" will be released. - The band describes the music as booming pop songs, with rocking choruses and highly personal lyrics of broken dreams, previous band members and mental illness.
Of the lyrical universe frontman Andreas Sorgenfrei explains:
- "I was working in an institution for young mentally ill people as a nightwatchman - a job I was fond of for some years but at the end, had to face was eating me alive. Suicide attempts and psychotic behaviour on a daily basis, will at some point take its toll on you, when everything else in your life is also not looking very optimistic."
"Elba" is produced by producer team - Søren Zahle Schou and Mads Holst Tønder - Thunder & Lightning Music.
