PRESENTED BY SARAH ASALY
When I was in elementary school my dad told me that I had perfect surgeon hands. I told him that they'd be better for the piano. I also pretended to sing country songs on my tennis-racquet-turned-banjo when my dad had me play on the middle school tennis team. Needless to say he had to adjust his expectations. ;)
I started writing songs at age 7, and started performing originals my sophomore year in college. I continue to develop my craft. Everyday is a chance to be better, and I'm thankful for that.
I'd like to thank Music Connection Magazine for publishing me as one of the hottest 100 unsigned live performers of the year. Thank you as well to Buzzfeed.com for listing me as one of the top 10 Asian American Musicians to Get Behind.
Some performance milestones of mine are being able to sing infront of Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green as a top 60 contestant out of the 70,000 auditionees for NBC's first season of The Voice. Singing the national anthem at The Staples Center, LA Colliseum, and The Qualcomm Stadium for The Clippers, The Sparks, and NBC Sports have been other great experiences.
2014 I will be releasing a full-length CD, entitled A Better Part of Me in honor of my late friends Laura Benson, Betty Ho, and Jeb Milne, who continue to bring out the better parts of me.
