Rap Game Bette Midler. That's one way to describe Boyfriend. Bold and unabashed, perverse and artistic, Boyfriend sounds like what Marilyn Monroe would have sung to President John F Kennedy, if no one were listening. Renowned for her self-produced visual accompaniments to her satirical tracks, Boyfriend just finished a year of monthly video releases, including several collaborations with Sex Party, at times stepping behind the camera to produce and direct.
Subversive, sexual and silly, Sexparty is a punkrap duo from New Orleans who stays true to their mission statement of "rapping bout fucking." Their funky, synth-driven beats have fueled three EPs and a handful of controversial music videos (see the Boyfriend production "Brainz," complete with a zombie sex tape). Studio aficionados, Sex Party will show off their production chops on Boyfriend's debut album Love Your Boyfriend set for release later this year.
Aside from several released and upcoming music videos, Boyfriend and Sexparty will team up for upcoming shows across the swampland (from NOLA to SXSW) and will both release full length LPs in spring of 2014.
