PRESENTED BY JOANNE COLLINS

PRODUCED BY JOHN HOUGH & JOANNE COLLINS

Neil Ó Briain is a solo acoustic guitarist. He plays melodically interesting pieces, complete with bass and rhythm backing all at the one time, all on the one guitar! His music ranges from traditional Irish to contemporary finger-style and reflects a large number of influences. In terms of acoustic guitar, he is particularly influenced by Tommy Emmanuel, Tony McManus, and Andy McKee, though there are many more who have had a significant effect on his playing.

He has gigged in various countries, both as part of groups and as a solo performer. As well as playing in Ireland, he played regular gigs at local cafés and bars in Kagoshima City, Japan, where he lived from 2010-2013. During this time he focussed on developing a wide repertoire of solo pieces, which is reflected in the different styles touched upon during his performances.

His debut album Immram was released in late 2014 and is available on CD and digital download from the Listen section of this site.
