Givers & Takers are an eclectic, psychedelic-soul, bliss-rock band consisting of four friends that came together during the spring of 2010 while attending school in the college town of Isla Vista, CA. During their years living in Santa Barbara County, the band quickly transitioned from playing at parties for the student pedestrians, to performances on UCSB’s campus, reputable venues downtown, such as Velvet Jones and SoHo, and the Lunacy and Lucidity festivals hosted in the mountains above SB.
“Let Me Have It,” their debut, 6 song, 39 minute album, was a self-recorded endeavor that took two years to complete. The album is a symbol of growth and patience as a group, as they learned much about the art of recording through the process.
Following “Let Me Have It,” the band began exploring new musical landscapes, and in September 2015 set to release 4 new singles spanning the rest of the year, accompanied with a series of lyric, music, and live videos.
While they enjoy and appreciate the art of recording music, they are most passionate about performing live due to the shared experience and energy exchange with the audience. Their music is a unique blend of vintage rock, funk, and soul fused with more modern elements. They have drawn comparisons ranging from Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, MuteMath, and My Morning Jacket. Their live show is described by fans as a heavy and whimsical experience.
