Pune-based Alif writes in Urdu and Kashmiri. Alif is Hardik Vaghela on Keyboard, Savio Sebastian on lead guitars, Amit Gadgil on Bass, Karan Chitra Deshmukh/Alex Coutinho on Percussions/Drums and Mohammad Muneem on Lead Vocals.
A feature on ZEE TV's web series “Chords of Change“ is due to release soon on YouTube. Two videos shot in Kashmir with 101india.com featuring MC Kash and actress Elena Kazan follow.
An OST for '19th January', an upcoming movie set in Kashmir, was premiered on LeapFrog to Coke Studio. The band will play themselves in the movie as well, with front-man Mohammad Muneem playing the lead character in the movie. The band’s track “Khair“ will also be featured in the movie.
The band is managed by Ashish Manchanda's Flying Carpet Productions. Ashish Manchanda is a noted recording engineer and music producer in Mumbai, India, known primarily for his work in association with Bollywood hits 'Dev D', ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Aisha’ and more. Alif is currently recording their debut album at Flying Carpet Productions with Ashish Manchanda.
Alif was featured on NDTV Prime as a part of their feature “Masters of World Music” on 3rd Dec 2014. On the same day Alif shared the stage with Viuex Farka Toure. Alif has also played a live set for the music show “MusicMojo” on the channel “KAPPA TV” in 2014.
“Uthenge Zaroor Phirse”, a song composed by the band on the recent Kashmir floods was premiered in Kashmir University on 28th of October, where Mohammad Muneem, the vocalist of the band was a part of the story telling panel. Mohammad also takes the Sarir-e-Khamma course sessions at Symbiosis Liberals Arts College, Pune.
Hardik Vaghela (band’s keyboard player) and Mohammad Muneem are also the co-founders of 'muziclub', music training and services organizations, which currently has 400 active students.
