The band was formed in early 2014 when singer, songwriter Iain (Linamix) Harris enlisted his long time friend and colleague Rowan (Quizmical) to help him take the work he’d written acoustically and create finished songs. Quizmical’s technical understanding of songstructure, experience as a live musician and gritty edge,worked in perfect juxtaposition to Linamix’s catchy summer sing along style. Their sound was defined when bass guitarist Esteban Aap joined the band taking their commercial rap, funk fusion and garnishing it with solid driving riffs and haunting South American vocals, giving them a unique neo 90’s garage rock core. The excitement of getting in the studio and laying down recordings of their songs had the band stoked, as did feedback from Therase Burke, the host of Noosa 101.3fm’s “Friday drive time”, when she said “Band from The Club are fun and contagious. Be sure and ready to have your spirit lifted with `Say Whoa` and Restless...it`s just their style.” This solidified the bands desire to keep rehearsing and polish the live show even further. The band has a love for playing in the bars and clubs on and around the Sunshine Coast. The immediate goal is to break into the festival scene; the allure of the big sound systems at major venues is intoxicating to a group of guys that crave the thrill and fun of playing an outdoor show. In the near future the band plans to organise a high profile national tour to engage with fans all over the country.
Ultimately this band is a genuine mixing pot of styles. From the get go they have not tried to force their sound, more let it grow organically. The outcome is a tight funk, rock three piece that’s passionate about the honest, fun sound they have fine tuned.
