MONOGEM is the moniker under which Jen Hirsh creates sleek, glittering melodies, suffused with the aftertaste of soul. In the cosmos, a Monogem Ring is a supernova remnant, the leftover glow from an exploded star. One of the largest monogem rings in the universe is located near the Gemini and Cancer constellations. Born in late June, Jen is on the cusp of Gemini-Cancer, and thus, Monogem rang true. MONOGEM’s debut EP was premiered by Interview Magazine in February 2015 with insightful commentary: “The California native's sound is heavy in electro-pop, yet her voice resonates with the richness of classic soul.” Touring with this EP included performances at the Art Institute of Chicago, SXSW 2016, and the Troubadour in West Hollywood. In April 2016, “Take It Slow” was released via The Watch List, a singles label between The FADER and CONNECT/Reverbnation. "Take It Slow" went on to make Spotify's Weekend Buzz playlist and charted #2 on HypeM’s Most Popular Tracks. In March of 2017, LADYGUNN premiered the video for MONOGEM's "Wild", starring Coco Arquette, daughter of Courteney Cox & David Arquette, and Matthew RC Taylor, Musical.ly phenom. The narrative unfolds as two young best friends enjoy a night at home—with raging popcorn fights, fierce cross-dressing, night swimming, and a climactic surprise ending. MONOGEM, explains in this song: "Life's too short to not live wild." MONOGEM’s highly anticipated sophomore EP, “100%,” plunges into more sophisticated territory with deeper cuts and complex production. Heightened vocal effects and a whirlwind of modular and analog synths contributed by producer Peter Dyer amplify MONOGEM’s astral sound. On April 25th, PopCrush premiered the single "100%" calling it "an icy blast of emotion in ambient electro-pop form with flourishes of 90s soul à la Sade’s Love Deluxe." The EP was released on May 19, it’s available everywhere.
