Classical Singer Akhtar Ali Khan was born in Bhopal in 1937, he learnt classical music from the famous music composer, Firoz Nizami. He served the Karachi Arts Council for a number of years in the 1960-70s and was a popular figure in the musical and cultural circles of the city. He presented a popular serial “Ghazal Ka Safar” on PTV in 1993. He remained the president of ‘Amateur Melodies Club’ since its inception in 1999. He died on Tuesday, 12th Nov 2002 leaving behind a wife, two sons and a daughter. He was buried in the PECHS graveyard Karachi. Rest in Peace. Aameen
