new Honda Grom: First Impressions

  • 7 年前
The new Grom is a new comp motorcycle released by Honda. Although it doesnt have much to offer in the way of horsepower or features, its very modest pricetag from the fory floor is hard to argue with. This is a very comp bike with a variant of the engine found in the CRF125, CRF85, and CRF50. Although this is the same engine, it has been equipped with fuel injection on the Grom.\r

Although street legal, this motorcycle is very underpowered and very comp, leaving the rider very low. It is not a motorcycle Id recommend riding in a high speed traffic situation, as the visibility and low power of the motorcycle combined make for a rather dangerous combination for the rider. However, for the urbanite that lives in the city and has limited travel needs, this motorcycle would be a good fit.\r

Because the Honda Grom runs on 12 inch rims, tire options for this motorcycle are very limited, and most of the tires offered for this motorcycle are ually scooter tires. Most scooter tires are not designed for optimum grip, which means that your options for sportier tires will be very limited.\r

In most states, because the Grom is over 50ccs, it will require a motorcycle endorsement to ride, ironically having less power than most of the trainer motorcycles for the riding class. Be aware that the Grom has a very limited horsepower engine and limited performance, and this will be something to keep in mind in your day to day riding.\r
