There is a supervolcano beneath Yellowstone National Park. while it hasnt erupted in more than 600,000 years, the supervolcano is still active — as evidenced by Yellowstone's famous assortment of geothermal features. It's unclear if or when Yellowstone might erupt like that again. The U.S. park service says such an event is "very unlikely in the next thousand or even 10,000 years.
