Edward Heath Would Have Faced Sex Abuse Inquiry, Say U.K. Police
5, 2017
The police in Britain have determined that sexual abuse allegations against Edward Heath, a former prime minister who died in 2005, are serious enough
that they would merit calling him in for questioning were he still alive, according to a report released on Thursday.

"If you make a mass appeal for victims, you are sure to get them — whether they are legitimate or not," Mr. Seligman said.
But Chief Constable Mike Veale of Wiltshire Police, which conducted the investigation, said the
report "does not draw any conclusions as to the likely guilt or innocence" of Mr. Heath.
The police said the allegations included child sexual abuse, physical abuse and sexual abuse against an adult.
Lincoln Seligman, Mr. Heath’s godson, said the police had not conducted a "proper investigation,"
and he accused them of creating an atmosphere of presumed guilt around the former prime minister, who never married.
The police said their findings would be presented to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, which was established in 2005 to investigate whether public
and private institutions in England and Wales had taken sufficient action to protect children from sexual abuse.
