لیکن ہمارے ہاں وعدے نیلام ہوتے ہیں اور بہت سستے نیلام ہوتے ہیں۔ وعدہ کرنا ایک عام پریکٹس ہے۔ اور صرف وعدہ کرنا ہی عام پریکٹس نہیں ہے، وعدہ کو توڑنا وعدے کوختم کر دینا وعدے کو تار تار کر دینا اس کی دھجیاں اڑا دینا، اس کے بخیے ادھیڑ دینا اس کو کرچی کرچی کر کے بکھیر دینا فضاوں اور ہواں میں ریت کے ذروں کی طرح اس کو اڑا دینا ایک حقیر چیونٹی کی طرح اپنے وعدے کو اپنے ہی پیروں طرح مسل کر آگے گزر جانا ایک بدمست ہاتھی کی طرح یہ ہماری سوسائٹی اور ہمارے سماج کی روزمرہ کی پریکٹس ہے۔
But the problem is our promises are up for sale. Our conscience is sold very cheap. First of all, making a promise is taken lightly. And, once made, the breaking of promise is taken as lightly. Tearing our agreements to shreds, reducing them to crumbs and throwing them on the wind like specks of dust, trampling upon our promises and crushing them like an insignificant insect and moving on after this butchery of deeds like an intoxicated elephants is "usual practise" with us.
