Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali sb discussing about two different attitudes towards Nafs (Self)
We should look deep into the revelation. We should educate ourselves about the ways the Holy Quran explains before us. The Holy Quran describes two different attitudes towards the same thing. One verse of the Holy Quran reads:
”اِنَّ النَّفۡسَ لَاَمَّارَۃٌۢ بِالسُّوۡٓءِ“
(سورۃ یوسف 53)
Of course, the physical self is always tempted by the evil.
This is one kind of attitude. The Holy Quran details a completely different attitude as well:
”ونا عن نفس عن الھوا“
There are the people who have forsaken the evil designs of the physical self and saved themselves from the evil desires.
جب میں نے یہ کہا کہ ہمیں
revelation (وحی)
میں جھانکنا چاہیے،قرآن میں جھانکنا چاہیے تو قرآن دو طرح کی صفات کا ذکر کرتا ہے،ایک ہی فعل کے متعلق دو طرح کے رویّے پاۓ جاتے ہیں مثال کے طور پہ ایک رویہ یہ کہتا ہے:
”اِنَّ النَّفۡسَ لَاَمَّارَۃٌۢ بِالسُّوۡٓءِ“
(سورۃ یوسف 53)
”بے شک نفس تو برائیوں ہی کا حکم دیتا ہے“
ایک یہ رویّہ ہے، دوسرا قرآن کیا بیان فرماتا ہے:
”ونا عن نفس عن الھوا“
دوسرے وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے اپنے نفس کو بری خواہشات سے، بری تمناؤں سے روک لیا۔
