RAWALPINDI: Commander of the Rawalpindi Corps Lt Gen Nadeem Raza visited different sectors of Azad Jammu and Kashmir along the restive Line of Control (LoC), according to the Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR).
The ISPR, military’s media wing, said the corps commander visited the areas affected by frequent ceasefire violations by Indian troops.
While interacting with the troops stationed along the LoC, Gen Raza said any unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian forces should be responded befittingly.
A day before, Indian Deputy High Commissioner J.P Singh was summoned to the Foreign Office for protest over the deaths of civilians in the latest incidents of firing by Indian troops.
Director General (South Asia and Saarc) Dr Muhammad Faisal told the diplomat that deliberate targeting of civilians was deplorable and contrary to human dignity and international human rights and humanitarian laws.
Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria at a weekly media briefing had also condemned the latest Indian ceasefire violations that left two people dead.
With the recent deaths, the total fatalities in the incidents of firing by Indian troops have reached 32 this year.
Two civilians, identified as Zahur Ellahi and Kakraan, were killed earlier this week.
