Shadow Health Secretary Jon Ashworth has said the Tories need to stop ‘burying their heads in the sand’ and make the necessary changes to ensure maternity units remain open. The call comes as new research published today by the Labour Party shows that nearly half of England's maternity units closed to new mothers at some point in 2016. Report by Browna.
