CHESSINGTON, ENGLAND — Staff at Chessington World of Adventure were reportedly caught fibbing this week after reports of a penguin massacre emerged.

According to the Telegraph, eight penguins were killed by a fox at the end of June. After the attack the zoo placed a sign on the enclosure which read, "Our Humboldt Penguins are currently enjoying their other home behind-the-scenes while we make alterations to Penguin Bay".

Staff were told to keep quiet about the incident, reported the Surrey Mirror. The fox killed five adults and two babies. Another penguin was left in critical condition but has since recovered.
