Meet Russia’s gun-toting spacebound robot

MOSCOW — Russia last month published a video demonstrating the gun-shooting ability of an experimental robot they eventually hope to see on board the International Space Station.

Tweeted last month by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, the video features The Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research robot, or FEDOR for short. It shows the machine accurately firing two pistols at the same time.

Come 2021, Moscow expects to see FEDOR models aboard the ISS and helping cosmonauts tackle space missions, RT reported.

The robot can function automatically or can be controlled by a person.

Initially developed for rescue operations, Russia now hopes to use FEDOR for military and educational purposes as well, RT reported.
