Sally Yates said she warned the White House that former security adviser Michael Flynn could be blackmailed by Russia.Yates told a Senate judiciary subcommittee on Monday about her conversations withWhite House Counsel Donald McGahn on January 26.
“We began our meeting tellinghim that there had been press accounts of statements from the Vice President and others that related to conduct that General Flynn had been involved in that we knew not to be the truth,” saidYates.
She went on to say that the Vice President made false statements to the American public and thatFlynn was “compromised by the Russians.”
President Donald Trump accusedYates before the hearing on leaking classified information.
“Ask Sally Yates, under oath, if she knows how classified information got into the newspapers soon after she explained it to W.H. Counsel,” Trump wrote on Twitter.
