It’s a relief for singer Ankit Tiwari since a special women’s court acquitted him and his brother Ankur in the rape case registered against them in 2014.
On Thursday special judge SKS Razvi acquitted the duo as the prosecution failed to prove the case.
Ankit was accused of raping a 28-yr-old woman after promising marriage to her, while his brother Ankur was charged for threatening her. After which the two were arrested by the Versova police on May 8, 2014.
However, they were granted bail soon after.
The complainant didn’t support the prosecution case during her testimony in the court and was declared ‘hostile witness’.
Tiwari’s lawyer Rizwan Mirchant said, “The prosecution could not prove its case.”
Well, it’s surely a good news for the singer, since the case has been going on for three years.
