Women's March on Washington will be one of America's largest protests ever

President-elect Donald Trump has promised “massive crowds” at his swearing-in ceremony on 20 January, but it's unclear whether the official estimate of 800,000 to 900,000 people thronging the nation’s capital are gearing up to celebrate or protest. While some events, such as the Women’s March, have captured the attention of the media, thanks to Meryl Streep’s speech at the Golden Globes awards earlier this month, dozens of other protests are slated to take place in Washington and other cities around the country. Several demonstrations have already begun in the run-up to Inauguration Day, including a protest by civil rights leader, the Rev. Al Sharpton in Washington, D.C.
