_____ • In Indonesia, Vice President Mike Pence praised the country’s religious tolerance, saying the "tradition of moderate Islam frankly is an inspiration to the world." He also announced
that President Trump plans to visit the region this fall, heading to the Philippines for a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
_____ • President Trump launched an investigation into whether steel imports from China and other countries are a threat to national security.
In his adopted state of California, it is decreed by law: "The governor annually shall proclaim April 21 to be ‘John Muir Day.’ " Born in Scotland on this day in 1838, Mr. Muir is perhaps best known for his naturalist writings
and for cofounding the Sierra Club, the largest environmental organization in the United States.
