Suprisingly, hardly anything is known about this excellent 10 piece orchestra active in Michigan that recorded a dozen of sides in 1931, including the one heard in this video. The Don Bigelow Orchestra was composed of Don Bigelow, leader & saxophones; Frank Morris, drums; Dick Whetstone, piano; Weart Kelley, saxophones; and Fritz Tice, saxophones. It is known they played for a while at the Hack-Ma-Tack Inn at Cheboygan (Michigan), a place still in business today. The vocalist is being credited "Ross Colby", but sounds like Smith Ballew.
