Hildesheim Stellarium (EN)
Dusk over Hildesheim - Stellarium simulation, time-lapse 150x
Position: N 52°08'11.3“, E 9°54'44.5“ (Hildesheim, Panoramaweg)
Date & Time: 2016 Dec 03, 14:00 - 18:00 CET (UTC+1)
Music: Jason Farnham, Wedding Invitation
Enjoy looking in several different directions around Hildesheim Panoramaweg, then - accompanied by a beautiful piece of music - watch the sun setting and the "blue hour" with Venus, Mars, and the waxing crescent moon in full length until complete darkness.
Watch this video in Full HD resolution (1080p) and full screen mode for best viewing experience.
The moon is enlarged 4x for better visibility.
Some relevant times:
15:24 Moon's meridian passage (waxing crescent, age 04d)
16:11 Sunset
16:51 End of civil twilight
17:34 End of nautical twilight
18:15 End of astronomical twilight, complete darkness
The whole sky is artificially produced by Stellarium, the open source planetarium software available on www.stellarium.org.
I created the hi-res (16k pixels) landscape used in this simulation from a series of 227 photos taken on 2016 Aug 18 in Hildesheim, assembled and fitted together with Hugin, the open source panorama creation software.
The illumination of the landscape according to daylight, twilight, and night is fully handled by Stellarium automatically.
