The Spanish-speaking world's highest literary honor, the Cervantes Prize, was awarded to Spanish novelist Eduardo Mendoza this year. The prize was announced on Wednesday by Education and Culture Minister Inigo Mendez de Vigo. De Vigo said that Mendoza's 1975 novel "La verdad sobre el caso Savolta" had reinvented Spanish fiction.
