Celebrations in Miami's Little Havana in the wake of Fidel Castro's death

Miami’s Little Havana has erupted in celebrations at the news of Fidel Castro’s death. Thousands of people took to the streets waving Cuban flags and chanted ‘Cuba Libre’.
In the neighbourhood, populated by Cubans living in exile and their families, it is a day many people have been waiting for.
“I shouldn’t be happy because a person has died, but he separated my family,” said Maria from Little Havana. “My parents never got to see Cuba again. So today, I rejoice for this.”
When asked why they were celebrating one man replied:
“They’re celebrating because they know that their fathers and their grandfathers were hurt by this person. So there’s no divide here tonight everybody is celebrating, all the generations are celebrating the death of a dictator.”

The celebrations continued into the small hours of Saturday morning.
In the neighbourhood, populated by Cubans living in exile and their families, it is a day many people have been waiting for.
