Gun-loving Indian woman shoots wedding guest and goes on the run

HARYANA, INDIA — Sadhvi Deva Thakur, a delusional 27-year-old gun nut in India, has turned herself into police after firing gunshots at a wedding, one of which struck and killed one of the guests.

Sadhvi is the Hindu word for “God-woman.” Her hobbies include guns, and gold. On November 14, while attending a wedding in the northern state of Haryana, she asked the DJ to play one of her favorite songs. She then started firing bullets from a revolver into the air, followed by a double-barrelled gun. She and her handful of followers were dancing and having a good time, but it came at the expense of the groom’s 50-year-old aunt, who got hit by a stray bullet and later died. Three others were critically injured.

Rather than face the heat, Sadhvi Deva Thakur and her six guards fled the scene before police could arrive. After three days of evading the cops, she finally turned herself into authorities. Her followers remain on the run.

Sadhvi Deva Thakur is maintaining her innocence, calling the incident a conspiracy against her.
