In the very heart of the Jordanian desert, hidden by high cliffs, the town of Petra is a city cut in the rock.
In the 4th century before Christ, Nabateens, originally nomads, decided to turn into sedentary population.
They build their main city in a big natural cirque at the foot of a waterspring. Their god prohibiting all constructions of houses, they exploited the rocks all around.
