DUZICI, TURKEY — A heartbroken Turkish man livestreamed his suicide on Facebook after his girlfriend broke up with him.

The shocking video captured the final moments of Erdogan Ceren’s 22-year-old life when he shot himself dead at his home in the town of Duzici, Osmaniye Province on Monday.

Ceren accused his girlfriend of cheating on him and said he wanted to die because he could not live without her, the Mirror reported.

Broadcasting on Facebook Live, Ceren held a shotgun to his chest and pulled the trigger, but the weapon jammed.

Horrified viewers pleaded with Ceren not to kill himself but their pleas went unheard, as he readjusted the camera and held the shotgun to his chest.

Ceren then pulled the trigger a second time, succeeding this time in killing himself.

Just hours earlier, Ceren posted photographs to his Facebook account of him smiling with his sister and nephew, according to Turkish news site Bugunun Haberi.

Relatives later found Ceren’s body and local police launched an investigation.

The video has attracted hundreds of thousands of views, and was still available on Facebook by the time the story was picked up by numerous news outlets.
