Skydiver has near-death experience above Palm Island, Dubai

Dramatic footage has emerged from Dubai of a skydiver spinning out of control as he leaves the aircraft above the famous Palm Island resort in Dubai.

The video, filmed two years ago, shows Ernesto Gainza's parachute malfunctioning, spinning him around and catching his arm between the wires, meaning he couldn't perform the standard emergency procedure.

According to the filmer, because the skydiver was turning so fast the G-force nearly rendered him unconscious but, fortunately, he eventually managed to straighten out the chute using his left arm only.

"After releasing the parachute Ernesto experienced 3 seconds of black out before regaining sight and opening his emergency parachute," he wrote online.

Ernesto holds the current Guinness World Record for landing the world's smallest and fastest parachute.
