An art piece I did that is 30,000 x 20,000 px big - roughly 20 x 13 feet. I was inspired by both images made of several different peoples faces in a mosaic to show an overall image as well as rubix cube art.
I took 5 of my own artworks and converted them into coloured "rubix squares" to use - I worked with 9 x 9 pieces of squares x 20 across and x 30 down - I used 1/9th of the images tiled across so in parts you can see the other images bleeding through as one piece of one image completes another in a sort of chimera'ed result.
My end result is to make each square a lightbox and combine several together so the coloured images make up a giant lit up collaged image for corporations - that way I can make them much much larger without having to worry about scaling up an image not meant for that size, and not having to worry about not having a powerful enough computer to output it..
this image was challenging for photoshop to do as it was - the photoshop file was 5 gigs and the resulting image 450 megs - it looks easy to do but I had to click each individual square and apply the image and line everything up - not fun!
