As the other four planets of Tau Ceti, planet f was detected in 2012 by realizing statistical analyses of the data of the star's variations in radial velocity. The planet orbiting the nearby Sun-like star Tau Ceti are at a distance of 11.905 light years from the Sun.
All five Tau Ceti worlds are likely larger than Earth. Planets e and f are estimated to be 4.3 and 6.6 times more massive than Earth, respectively.
Both Tau Ceti e and f are very interesting planet candidates for astrobiology that need to be confirmed by more observations.
Tau Ceti is one of the closest and most similar stellar system to our Solar System with potential habitable exoplanet candidates.
It is notable due to its predicted habitability and Earth-like properties, with an Earth Similarity Index of 0.71.
