CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA & SANFORD, FLORIDA — Two people involved in recent racially charged killings of black people got punched in the face this week.

Dylann Roof, the South Carolina man accused of killing nine people inside an historic black church last year, got beat up in jail on Thursday morning, the Associated Press reported.

Roof was preparing to shower when he was assaulted by another inmate inside the Charleston County Detention Center, Sheriff Al Cannon said at a Thursday press conference.

Inmate Dwayne Stafford, 22, punched Roof a bunch of times really quickly before a jail guard pulled them apart, Cannon said.

Roof was bruised but unfortunately not seriously injured. He later returned to his cell after getting checked by medical staff.

In another incident over the weekend, George Zimmerman was punched in the face after a man accused him of bragging about shooting unarmed teenager Trayvon Martin, the Orlando Sentinel reported, citing the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.

Zimmerman was telling people at a restaurant in Sanford that he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense when a large man came up and asked, “You’re bragging about that?” before punching him in the face.

Zimmerman and a friend called 911 and asked for cops to come rescue him.

Witnesses said they overheard Zimmerman say to someone, “I love your tattoos. My name is George Zimmerman, you know, that guy who killed Trayvon Martin?”

The man accused of punching Zimmerman, who fled the scene on a blue Harley-Davidson, could face charges, according to WFTV. His identity has not yet been released.
