Woman shouts N-word and spits on couple at Chicago festival

CHICAGO — Ernest Crim and his wife Cassie came out to Chicago’s annual Margarita Festival to have a good time on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Instead, they got an earful of racial slurs, in the form of repeated N-bombs.

The heated exchange took place on July 30, when the Crims tried to enter a game of cornhole – a game that consists of tossing beanbags back and forth, scoring in an opposing team’s hole. When the couple went to gather a beanbag to take part, the woman, who has yet to be identified, supposedly began berating them with hateful comments. When Ernest begins recording the encounter, the woman knocks his phone to the ground.

As the video shows, the woman also happened to be surrounded by two African-American friends who didn’t seem to mind what she was saying. When the woman’s friends said to Ernest, “Don’t bother us,” he continued the shouting match. Seconds later, the woman spits at them. The spit landed on Cassie Crims’ arm.

Security then removed the woman from the event, and the couple filed a report of simple battery against her.
